Vectiraptor life reconstruction :B The (almost) boneless wonder. #paleoart #dinosaur #Vectiraptor #totallyaccurate twitter.com/HodariNundu/…
This is Hodari, self taught artist, evolving paleoartist, and lifelong naturalist forever in awe of Nature's creativity. Commissions open! #PortfolioDay
In Pleistocene Yucatan #Xibalbaonyx climbs a cenote wall trying to escape a pack of hungry #Protocyon. A quick doodle inspired by a study suggesting this long-armed ground sloth may have been well suited to rock climbing. Spelunking sloth? #paleoart #doodle
A commission for @PedroHTunes' upcoming project on Pleistocene Brazil fauna (follow him for news!). After a deadly attack, a group of #Cartelles, the largest New World monkey known (up to 30 kg?) use their size and loud howling/roaring to try and scare a #jaguar away! #paleoart
It seems it's #WorldFrogDay so have this oldie but goodie :B Etnabatrachus maximus was a big tree frog from the Plio-Pleistocene of Australia. Apparently comparable in size to a cane toad? D: Went extinct when its rainforest habitat dissappeared. #etnabatrachus #paleoart #frog
Sometimes I can´t resist doodling scenes inspired by super scant fossils. Like these marine #Richardoestesia being threatened by a giant sea crocodile in what will one day be Chiapas, Mexico. Apparently this sea croc was around 8 m long, one of the Cretaceous' largest! #paleoart
Whoops, posted the wrong version! Here it goes again. This is inspired by #Oaxacagale, a tiny late Eocene or early Oligocene mustelid from (where else), Oaxaca, Mexico. The skull was only 5 cm, and very similar already to modern #weasels. Probably fiercer than it looks! #paleoart
#Pachycrocuta not particularly happy that #Megalochelys atlas just invited itself for dinner. :B Speedpainting inspired by @TetZoo's recent post on scavenging tortoises. I didn´t have much time but found the concept hard to resist :B #paleoart #doodle
Your daily reminder that long after the Cretaceous, in the Mid Miocene, South America was haunted still by huge carnivorous saurians, like the formidable Barinasuchus! Huge thanks to @JulinBayona2 and @CentralCenozoic for the references for this doodle! #fossilfriday #paleoart
These two dudes, probably not friends! :B #syncerusantiquus #natodomerilion #pleistocene #paleoart
You know what's even cooler than giant buffaloes? Giant lions that ATE giant buffaloes. Apparently Syncerus antiquus lived along the Natodomeri Lion, a form of Panthera leo that rivaled even Panthera atrox in size! Horns make sense now? :B #pantheraleo #natodomerilion #paleoart
It appears that remains of the huge, long horned Bison latifrons, one of the largest ruminants ever, have been found as far south as the states of Guerrero and Oaxaca in Mexico! I don't imagine they were super furry in those regions? #bisonlatifrons #paleoart #megafauna
An adrenaline junkie #kea mobs a Haast's Eagle of all things! The Haast's eagle was apparently the real life inspiration behind the maori's myths about giant man-eating raptors, and had a wingspan of up to 3 m! #newzealand #birds #paleoart #haastseagle
A female Titanoboa eats a male after mating for extra protein during gestation :B Doodle inspired by sexual cannibalism reported for modern anacondas. Did it happen? I dunno. But I bet you hadn't seen this before :B #titanoboa #paleoart
Help spread the weirdness of updated, non-traditional Ptychodus to the world! Not a sluggish clam-eating bottom dweller, but a giant, active, pelagic scourge of ammonites and who knows, maybe even sea turtles... :B #ptychodus #shark #paleoart #FossilFriday
Another giant prehistoric #shark! This is my first (I think!) attempt at Ptychodus, likely a slow moving beast that munched on giant clams and other hard shelled prey in the Cretaceous seas. Some estimates suggest it may have reached around 11 m long or so! #Ptychodus #paleoart
Was the wolverine shark Hemipristis serra a predator of baby megalodon? Its teeth do seem to show up at sites believed to have been megalodon nurseries. If it did grow to 6-7 m as suggested, a 2 m baby meg could well have been on the menu! #hemipristisserra #megalodon #paleoart
My second attempt at the giant triggerfish Balistes vegai from Miocene Cuba! :B #Triggerfish are notoriously aggressive and have a powerful bite so of course the Miocene had to go and make a giant version. #balistesvegai #miocene #fish #paleoart
New doodle! :D A leopard decides not to cross a belligerant Cercopithecoides male. I don´t know why this giant prehistoric monkey isn´t more famous- I seem to be its only hype man u-u #monkey #leopard #pleistocene #paleoart #cercopithecoideskimeui #art
Somewhere in Pleistocene Asia, a #tiger attacks a lonely #gigantopithecus because tigers are made of badass and will sometimes go after insane prey. Bit of a remake/homage to one of my early Deviantart pieces. Gigantopithecus, give up your secrets already! #speculative #paleoart
