How to easily get a dent out of a canvas painting chrischalkart.com/painting_blog/… #arttips #ArtistOnTwitter
On the easel today: 12x10 inch, oil - Painting a Tennessee Warbler, that appeared on Skokholm Island in October. A very rare visitor indeed, a first for Wales, and seventh sighting for Britain. Ref photo courtesy Richard Brown, Skokholm Warden. #artistsontwitter #birds
Keeping me company in the studio this afternoon, one of my favourite animals, she lives on Anglesey in North Wales. 16x16inch, oil. #squirrel #artistsontwitter #nature
''It was a really enjoyable experience seeing Chris bring my photograph to life. I am thrilled with the end result as is my wife as it was a gift for her'' - Received this photograph yesterday, a local beauty spot painted for a client earlier this summer🙂#art #artistsontwitter
Back in the studio after a fabulous week spent on Skokholm island, off the coast of Pembrokeshire. No doubt a few puffin painting to come, meanwhile I'm working on this cromlech commission: 20x16inch, oil. #ArtistOnTwitter
Lone Gone, 16x12inch, oil - High up in the Preseli mountains of west Wales, this abandoned farmhouse 'Trinant' just about still stands. I'm drawn to these tumble-down dwellings, no pun intended. #artistsontwitter #oilpainting
On the easel this morning, a 20x16 inch commissioned painting of one of Pembrokeshire's mysterious cromlechs. A cromlech is a megalithic tomb consisting of a large flat stone laid on upright ones. We have quite a few is Wales, this one's near Newport #ArtistOnTwitter #WALES
'Summer's Evening, Newport', 16x12inch, oil. Newport in Pembrokeshire is one of my favourite places to paint, there's always something interesting happening and the harbour is wonderfully picturesque, lending itself to a painting nicely. #oilpainting #artist #artistsontwitter
On the easel: Little more progress on this Kingfisher painting this afternoon. One of my favourite birds to paint. #ArtistOnTwitter #oilpainting
On the easel: Working on a 10x6 inch, quite small for me, Kingfisher painting today. These box canvasses are ideal for smaller work - no frame required. #ArtistOnTwitter #oilpainting
Afternoon Stroll, 24x18inch, oil - The wild and rugged landscape of Wales has inspired many artists over the years, and it's easy to see why when you visit. This scene is high up in the hills above the Welsh village of Llanddewi Brefi, near Tregaron. #art #ArtistOnTwitter
Something a little different. Here I am working on my most unusual commission to date; a tarot card painting. #ArtistOnTwitter #art #tarot
'Sky Sailor', 36x26inch, oil. Original painting of an Buller's Albatross soaring over the ocean. Quite a large painting at 36x26 inches, plenty of space for a majestic Albatross to sail across. #birds #birdwatching #oilpainting
My morning commute; walk via the kitchen to make a coffee and into the studio. #artistsontwitter #oilpainting
One of my favourite subjects to paint, Puffins are fantastic birds. It's a little known fact that Puffins lose their colourful beaks in winter, reverting to a much duller grey beak colour. They 'bling' it back up again in the spring. #art #Puffins #oilpainting
'Old Lao Man', 20x16inch, oil. In some ways quite a simple portrait, but still one of my favourites. Painted in a impressionistic style the painting retains it's boldness that can sometimes be lost with further work. I don't paint many portraits these days. #ArtistOnTwitter
A new painting on the easel this week. I don't paint that many pet portraits these days, but I enjoy them when I do. It's therapeutic stuff I think, listening to good music and being completely engrossed in your work. #artistsontwitter
