Catchup #uktreetober Today's drawing is the Crab Apple, and it just happens to be #appleday. Crab Apples recolonised Britain after the Ice Age, they can live for 100 yrs. True Crab Apples have thorns. 6,00 different varieties have evolved from the Crab Apple #inktober #drawtober

Day 7/8 #uktreetober. #Rowan, flowers and berries. Often called the Mountain Ash. Rowan are fast growing 'pioneer' trees, creating the right conditions for other trees to follow, they can live for around 200 yrs. #inktober #inktober2020 #drawtober #iucnredlist #saveourtrees

Hawthorn #uktreetober I anticipate every year the tunnel of frothy white blossoms that appear every May on my trail. Signaling the light side of the year. Hawthorn attracts over 300 species of insects and beetles. #inktober #drawtober #drawingmatters #drawingeveryday

#Inktober catch up 31/31 #Cuckoo #inktoberredlist I had to finish off with the cuckoo, as they symbolise for me what has been called 'shifting baseline' syndrome. My 'nature' base line of growing up the UK in the 70's was full of insects, and birds.
