and this is actually one of my favorite styles - 2d sprites in lowrez/lowpoly 3d world - BoF, Grandia, Xenogears look absolutely beautiful for me even now, they have coherent and united look, from UI to sprites to 3d world
it looks like crap, so they want to fix it making it somehow coherent and of course to show gRapHiCs (in newb's mind graphics = effects), they crank everything up to eleven - dof, tonal, bloom, vignette, everything. Here is MG2 remake you will see next year, be excited!
