Work in progress: a speculative scene of Plateosaurus looking over the Fennoscandian highlands some 220 million years ago. There are no Triassic fossil locations in Finland. Plateosaurus, being known from about a hundred locations across Europe, probably was here as well.

Rereading Jurassic Park and Lost World inspired me to doodle this Tyrannosaurus hunting scene. Like predators today, T. rex probably preferred young prey animals, like these juvenile edmontosaurs. Also, the books are a fascinating mix of science mixed with complete bogus.

The Baltic Sea is an example of shifting baseline syndrome: in about 200 years, it has turned turbid & lost much of its magnificent wildlife. I learned in school it's not doing well, but until recently had no real frame of reference. Commissioned by Arador Innovations.

Rawr! Deinogalerix, the late Miocene giant hedgehog relative from Gargano, defending her kill from whatever is outside the frame. Gargano was also home to several species of rather large rats, one of which is the victim here. Just a quick sketch to try out some brushes.

Last art of the year: the newest additions to my extremely slow-paced personal project on prehistoric rhinos. Stephanorhinus was closely related to woolly & Sumatran rhinos. The two Late Pleistocene species mostly lived in temperate forests & grasslands.
